Équilibrer grossesse et vie professionnelle

Balancing pregnancy and professional life

Finding the right balance between pregnancy and work can be a significant challenge. Whether you're an employee or a business owner, here are some practical tips to help you navigate this time with confidence.

Listen to your body

Fatigue, nausea, and other discomforts can impact your work performance. Don't hesitate to adjust your schedule to suit your needs. Talk to your employer, team, or colleagues to schedule regular breaks and, if possible, consider working part-time or from home.

Prioritize and organize

Make a list of tasks and prioritize them based on their importance and urgency. Use time management tools and don't hesitate to delegate certain tasks when possible. Stay flexible and adapt your schedule from day to day based on your energy and well-being. This organization will also make your maternity leave easier by identifying the most important tasks to delegate if you aren't replaced.

Create a supportive environment

Surround yourself with understanding and supportive people, both professionally and personally. As soon as you feel the need, inform your colleagues and superiors of your situation so they can provide you with the necessary support. At home, don't hesitate to ask your partner, family, or friends for help with daily tasks.

Starting a business during pregnancy

For those combining pregnancy and entrepreneurship, the challenges can be even greater. Here are some specific tips:

  • Create a solid and realistic business plan that takes into account your current and future capabilities. Try to build flexibility into your schedule to anticipate challenging periods: extend your client delivery deadlines, postpone a product release, or spread out your communications plan, for example.
  • Join an incubator or entrepreneur network to gain valuable advice and resources. (In our entrepreneurial journey, we were supported by The Pool , an incubator that helped us move forward within a network.)
  • Use automation tools for repetitive tasks and outsource non-core activities to focus on your core business.

Take care of yourself

If possible, incorporate activities that make you feel good, such as yoga or another sport, or simply reading into your daily routine. Setting aside dedicated time can help you truly take these moments for yourself.

If you feel overwhelmed or in pain (physical or mental), do not hesitate to consult your healthcare professional; that's what they are there for.

And don't hesitate to share with us the tips that have helped you the most!
